Chambers member, Dr. Emir Crowne, has been invited to speak at the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (the “SDRCC”).
This year’s conference is a joint “public seminar” hosted by the SDRCC and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (the “CAS”).
The program features presentations and panel sessions by guest speakers, including SDRCC arbitrators, mediators, clients and collaborators. Under the theme “Fostering Integrity in Sport with Dispute Resolution”, this year’s program will address several current themes and issues in sport dispute resolution.
Dr. Crowne will be speaking at the private/closed session for SDRCC arbitrators only on Friday 31st January, 2020. The title of his panel is “Hear it from the clients”, and the description of the panel is set out below:
“A core principle of the SDRCC dispute resolution services is to offer final and binding solutions to the sport community. Whether parties walk away with a negotiated settlement or an arbitral award, they need finality. In a number of arbitration cases, respondents argued that the matter should be sent back to the original decision makers for reconsideration. In what circumstances it is appropriate to do so?”.
